Memorandum to all Heads and Directors, Faculty of Arts and Science: “Three-Year Academic Plan” (21 Sept. 2009)

This memo clearly illustrates how financial planning has been given priority over academic planning. Anticipating Principal Woolf’s “academic planning” exercise, the Dean of Arts and Science requires “that each department and school complete a three-year academic plan including a budget and teaching schedule for 2010-2011, 2011-2012 and 2012-2013″ while assuming that “Departmental budgets will be reduced by an average of 2.5% in 2010-2011” with “a further 5% reduction in your budget for each of” 2011-12 and 2012-13.
